About That Blog...
A
Personal Note
We just celebrated my husband's 60th birthday
with a surprise party and it was a blast. We are quiet people; he
writes, I paint. So this was way out of character for us; he had
absolutely no idea! Our three great kids planned it all. Family
flew in from Maine, California, and in between, braving flight delays
and steamy weather to dine at Rick's favorite Brazilian
restaurant.
This has been the busiest summer ever. I remember
when this was off-season in Florida.
I am planning to revamp
this newsletter to look more like the web site. More importantly, and
where I need your help, is what to call it.
Do you
like Nancy's Art Newsletter? Now that the tag line is Portrait and
Fine Art Painting, "Luminous" doesn't quite fit. Please
email your best suggestions. If there are several show stoppers,
we could do a tie-busting vote.
Good News to
Celebrate
You may already know about the two Best of Show winning paintings at Summer Spotlight at the Webber Center, CFCC, Ocala. Urn with Grapes and Freddy's Row of Palms.
CFCC is also honoring my work by selecting Poinsettias to represent the Best of the Season Show in their upcoming catalog.
Out of Hand Artists (OOHA) premier show continues at the downtown Bank of America through August 9.
Lashonda Stinson wrote a beautiful article on the above in the July 5th GO Magazine.
To my surprise, she also videoed it. I'm not sure how long this link will take you directly to the page. You may have to search for Out of Hand Artists to bring it up.
Cracker Porch has been accepted into the Regional Juried Exhibition at the Thomas Center in Gainesville. This show runs from July 14 to Sept 3.
Virginia's Daisies has been selected by the Child Advocacy Center in Gainesville to help publicize their CAC is Blooming event at Fresh Market in Gainesville on August 28. I am honored that my art can help this commendable organization in their work. The original painting will be on site available for purchase along with some of my portraits of children.
The Appleton Museum of Art is offering pastel classes on Sunday afternoons beginning Sept. 30 for 5 weeks. Well, one last contract tweak - I want them to commit to the letting the students and me know class status at least a week prior to commencement.
You'll want to check the blog for more...especially portrait news.
I told you it has been a busy summer!
For Artists - a Marketing Workshop
Alyson Stanfield is bringing her art marketing workshop to the Webber Center on Monday, November 12. It's free to Brick City Artist Association members.
For Landscape Enthusiasts
I have been invited to participate in the next Evinston Paint Out. Mark your calendars for April 11 - 18, 2008. That's even too new to be on site at News and Events.
For Portrait Enthusiasts
There's more new portraits on the blog along with full coverage of Ocala's First Portrait Society of America's Meet and Greet.
